The Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue is a fantastic amp for blues and country players who want a small amp (22 watts) that delivers a big sound when turned up. Don't confuse this amp with the Hot Rod Deluxe, which is a fine amp in its own right, but it doesn't sound like the Deluxe Reverb.
Bill Frisell always asks for these amps when he is on tour, and many studio pros use the Deluxe Reverb too. It is easy to understand why.
For pure tone - it is a 10 out of 10. It is the perfect sounding amp for clean, loud warm tube tone. As you crank it up, it goes into a beautiful overdriven tone, and you can hear this happening at about 6 or 7 on the volume knob. If you want really dirty overdrive, you'd need an pedal like a Bad Monkey or Blues Driver. The clean, warm tube tone is where this amp shines.
This amp is extremely versatile. It takes pedals well, and it has a vibrato channel which sounds terrific. The reverb is fabulous - it's a Fender!

Of all the Fender amps, the Fender Deluxe Reverb is the ultimate combo in my opinion. It's small, powerful, has incredible tone and the reverb and vibrato are as good as it gets. If you want something better than this for an amp this size, you'll have to look hard. You'd have to look at amps like Victoria, Dr. Z, Carr and other high end boutique amps, but they'll cost quite a bit more. If you haven't tried the Fender Deluxe Reverb, do yourself a favor and go try one. Remember I told you!
