It is a very versatile preamp, and it covers a range of different tones. The lead tones you can get from this thing are pretty amazing - singing overdrive and screaming distortion is all in there. The clean tones are very clean and sparkly. Metal players can also have a lot of fun with this preamp - it has tons of gain if you want it.
In summary, if you find one of these used for a good price and you have a good power amp to run it through, get it. I regret I got rid of mine.
For another cool amp with balls, check out the Peavey Windsor 120 watts of tube tone.
