New electric hollow body guitar

I just received my new electric hollow body guitar - a Hagstrom Viking. First thing I did was to take a few photos so you can see what it looks like. It looks very classy.

I then took it for a short test drive with my Marshall JVM 100 watt head. I set the amp to clean, semi-clean, dirty, distorted and super-distorted. The guitar sounds great on ALL of these settings! Impressive. I played only at low volume, so I don't know yet about possible feedback problems when play loud.

I've wanted an electric hollow body guitar for a long time now, and when I found out they were blowing these guitars out, I figured this would be a good time to get one of these.

I have played Hagstrom Vikings before. A friend of mine has one, and I once I borrowed a Viking for a gig. I've always liked how they feel and how they sound.

Have a look at the pictures - isn't it beautiful? I am very happy with it so far.

The Hagstrom Viking is extremely versatile. I can use it in many different ways, since it sounds great clean AND distorted. I have a feeling I will be using this guitar on a lot of future blues gigs - it is a perfect guitar for that!

Videos will of course come - just give a few days to get something together.

Great Deals at Musician's Friend

3 weeks after I found one of these on a consignment I uncovered an original 1976 Viking.

Whne I played the guitars at relatively low volumes through chinese ss amps, I didn't really feel like there was too much difference between the two (the weight and balance which be due to materials of course--the old one is much lighter).

However, early last week i had an opportunity to take both guitars out for a romp at volume using different low watt tube amps.

Had I not acquired the old guitar I would have been quite happy with the repro. As it is I will sell the repro and do my best to look after the '76.

It's a great guitar. I am an old guy so guitars that feel like this seem quite natural to me.

Looks great. I've been lusting for a hollow body myself, but don't have anywhere nearby that carries a variety for me to test out.
