Fender Mustang amp

There's a new cool little amp on the block, called Fender Mustang. There's actually several - Mustang I, II, III, IV and V. All made by Fender, of course.

These amps are getting good reputation quickly. So what are they all about?

The Fender Mustang guitar amp is a low-cost modeling amplifier that simulates a range of classic guitar tones and effects. Priced very low, the Fender Mustang is a guitar amp that most people can afford. The 20-watt Fender Mustang I is sold for around $100-$140, while the 40-watt Fender Mustang II goes for about $200-something.

Mustang Amp Differences

Mustang I and II contain 24 on-board amp presets with tones from vintage Fender sparkle to high gain modern metal distortion. The 24 amp presets are easily and instantly accessed right out of the box with a twist of a knob.

Mustang I is a 20 watt amp with an 8" speaker. Mustang II rocks a little more gut; it's a 40 watts amp with a 12" speaker and a slightly larger cabinet.

Take one for a test drive if you can. These amps are really cool. Let me know your thoughts, if you have tested one. Everyone I have talked to who have tried the amps have been very impressed.

Yet another inexpensive all-around useful modeling amp, it seems. Truth be told - this market is saturated and I can only imagine how hard it must be to get a piece of the market. Line 6, Fender, Vox and Roland seem to be some of the strongest players in this field. I know what I am NOT starting - a business creating modeling amps! :)
