I'd like to get your input about new guitar video lessons by me. I have created quite a few different kinds lessons on this website, and every time I am about to create a new one, I get stuck. Maybe I think too much about how to perform the lesson, and often I end up with nothing but a lot of lost time and no video. :(
So, I'd be glad to hear what YOU think. Tell me what you would be most interested in learning from me. I can't guarantee I can fulfill all requests, but the feedback would help me get an idea what my visitors/readers tend to be interested in.
For example, I can do simple lessons or advanced ones - short ones or long ones, lesson with lots of talking and lessons without.
I can do blues, funk, jazz, rock, theory, etc. I prefer to stay away from copying other guitarists material note for note - I find that just boring and I could be infringing on copyright issues by doing so. However, a few lines or overall of style of some players, I might be able to do, but I am no expert on playing in the styles of all the famous guitar players of past or present.
I also never copy a complete solo from another player. That is just way too much work and makes me feel like a complete copycat with no imagination of my own. No, instead I recommend taking small parts from many players, whether it's a few notes, one note, how the note is being played, how the string is attacked, the attitude of playing, etc.
So, if you are hoping to learn some particular "thing" or whatever we call it (lick, riff, scale, chord?), just reply to this post, and be as specific as you can. Please also tell me how long you've been playing and if you are a beginner/intermediate or more experienced as a player.

I am just a 72-year-old beginner in guitar and have always wanted to learn to play under the double eagle. I do not expect to be a Roy Clark or C-Atkins but just want to learn a few tunes like this and maybe wildwood flower. When you get through laughing at this request I Thank You for any help you can give me on online video.

Hi Robert,
Your lessons are great. I really enjoy all of them. I recently bought a Danelectro Chicken Salad pedal which is alot of fun with my dual amp setup.
One request...I loved the lesson
"String_Skipping_Guitar_Lick" however it is a bit hard to see on my computer. Would it be possible to get a tab version of this one?
As far as new lessons...anything Hendrix or blues based would always be welcomed.
Many Thanks and keep up the SUPER work.
Gary
Hi Robert,
Beleive it or not, I'm having trouble finding good old THE WHO tabs. Nothing I find is consistant. Particularly,I'm looking for stuff from their Tommy or Quadrofinia era. Do you have any advice?
Thanks,
Dave.
I would love to learn the solo from "On The Turning Away" by Pink Floyd. If I could play that just once in my life before passing on it will have all been worth it.
Comment added on August 08, 2008Hi Robert,
Maybe you could do some song lessons of Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and B.B. King (similar to your AC/DC - Back in black lesson).
Also any kind of lesson regarding funk would be awesome!
Thanks,
Mladen
hey, some more jazz/fusion licks would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Pete.
Comment added on August 07, 2008Hey man! Some country licks in the style of brent mason and "The Best Country Player" (in my opinon) Brad paisley would be awsome Country playing is not something new to me so i can the basics licks and stuff but some more advanced country would be great ! . Thanks ! Sundsvall Sweden
Comment added on August 06, 2008I would like a lesson on your favorite jazz/blues improvising scale tones. I notice that you like outside notes, so give us a lesson on a favorite scale (or scales) you use when constructing improvised jazz/blues lines. That would be awesome stuff and something I am sure you would be into.
As always, Robert, I appreciate all you share. Thanks.

"SBlack" over at The Fret
Robert,
I would like to request the intro bars to "Manhattan" by Eric Johnson. This could be a lesson covering the basics of octaves and harmonics. Any insight to the Eric Johnson tone would be a plus!
I would consider myself a self-taught beginner who has been taking formal lessons for about a year and a half now, so perhaps I am graduating to an "intermediate" level.
Thanks for the consideration, I enjoy your site very much.

Hi Robert,
Really appreciate your efforts with the guitar lessons. So here are my preferences:
Genre: blues, rock
Type: either short licks or some basic theories for improving my improvisational skills. I don't mind talking and explanations.
Hope this helps and thanks again for all the useful stuff.
Hi Robert,
It's nice that you want our views.
I personally wouldn't mind a lesson that showed how to combine scales (like Blues, Pentatonic, Mixolydian, Dorian etc.) when playing a solo in a blues or rock context. (If it's possible to do that) I've been playing for just under a year now and I think, like many people I learnt the pentatonic etc. so I could get straight into soloing, but I think this lesson would be useful in helping us to "break-free from the pentatonic"
Thanks
