The best HD Camcorder 2013

What is the best camcorder in 2013? Let's have a look at a few different options in different price ranges. As always is the case, you get what pay for.

Prices have come down the last few years when it comes to quality camcorders, and the quality and flexibility of the unit has gone up. Here are my top picks in different price ranges.

In the $300 - $400 range

The Sony HDR-CX260V

Sony HDR-CX260V High Definition Handycam 8.9 MP Camcorder with 30x Optical Zoom and 16 GB Embedded Memory. One of the best, if not THE best, in this class.

Pros

  • Fantastic HD footage
  • Good Photo Quality
  • Sturdy Screen
  • Plenty of manual features
  • Easy to quickly view of what you've taken
  • Built in USB - adding footage to your computer is easy
  • Touch to focus
  • Can take photos and video simultaneously

    Cons

  • LCD can be hard to see in bright sunlight
  • Low Light abilities are not great
  • Only 16 GB of space

You can order the Sony HDR-CX260V here.

If you need quality audio as well, then I recommend you buy this camcorder microphone. It comes with a Shock Mount Microphone Holder, windscreen, and will make your audio sound 10 times better than the built-in microphone in the camera.

In the $100 - $200 range

The JVC 1.5-Megapixel 1080P HD Everio GZE200AUS

This camcorder is very affordable, and it does take great video.

Pros

  • Zoom range
  • Very asy to use
  • Image stabilization
  • Picture quality is very good
  • Great sound

Cons

  • Not so good in low light

You can order the JVC 1080P HD Everio GZE200AUS here.
