How to start a blues solo

I've been asked quite a few times about how you start a blues solo. The answer is, "it depends". It depends on the style of the song. A fast blues will be much different than a slow one, in terms of how you play.

To illustrate the idea of playing one powerful lick to start a solo, take a look at this video.

I'm playing over an E minor blues, and you can - get the backing track here.

I would love it if you recorded this, and shared on social media. Use this hashtag on your video on youtube, twitter, facebook or instagram: #startingabluessolo.

I hope you enjoy this lick! Let me know.
