So I have a confession to make. I have not had an Ibanez Tubescreamer ever. I've played for over 30 years, and used hundreds of guitar pedals, but I never did get an Ibanez Tubescreamer until now. Weird huh?
I guess I didn't like the sound of it when I was in my teenage years. I was more into heavy distortion and effects back in those days. Well, I must have grown up. :)
I recently bought an Ibanez Tube Screamer 30th Anniversary and I am really, really loving it. You see, my playing these days is more dynamic and with lower gain. With this pedal, I get a fantastic blues tone with almost any amp.
For playing BLUES - I can tell you this is my favorite pedal by far. Why? Because I can go from SRV tone to funky blues rock to Hendrix to low gain lead sound for jazzier sounds. It's very versatile, and responds SO well to Strats. It's really amazing.
Now, that model I have is the Tube Screamer 30th Anniversary, but a stock TS9 is very similar. I don't know exactly what the differences are, but I know THIS pedal sounds killer.
Another thing I like about it is that it is sturdy. There are no parts that could break off - step on it all day if you like - it will not break easily.
So, if you play blues based music or want a pedal that really brings out the best in your Strat for improvisation with lower gain tones but with RICH and FAT blues tone - get this pedal.
And that's my FINAL word! haha.
I love this pedal. I ain't selling mine.
