Macbook battery exploded

I wore out my Macbook Pro battery in just over two years. I wasn't sure what would actually happen once a laptop battery wears down. Well, I did find out. The Macbook batteries are great, but they don't last forever.

And, it didn't explode - it just grew like a mushroom.

I took the battery out in April, since the Macbook Pro was having major battery issues. The battery was bulging and the laptop looked like it was pregnant. This is what it looked like in April:

After April, I put the battery in a drawer and forgot about it. I found it again yesterday, and the swelling has grown. This what the Macbook Pro battery looks like in July 2010.

I guess I will take it to the recycling place and get it recycled properly. Or perhaps I should keep it a few more months to see how much the battery cells will continue to expand and demolish the casing of the Mac battery?

You can read more about Apple's Lithium-in batteries at www.apple.com/batteries/. One important thing to note is to not use it in temperatures higher than 95° F (or 35° C), since that will damage the battery.

Hi, yes, take it out and leave your laptop plugged in. That's what I did.

My battery is doing the same thing. Can I just take it out and leave my laptop plugged in until I can replace the battery?
