Metronome Q

Metronomes, love them or hate them, they still are very useful for practicing. I have tested a metronome today called Metronome Q, available for the iOS devices. It is a metronome that aims to bring out the little child inside of you by giving you a game-like experience. It is available at the Apple App Store.

It designed with kids in mind - comes with an adorable elephant, which is blowing around hearts from its trunk, and is flying around with the help of balloons. How cute!

I like it. It is great for kids of course, since it is so cute, but it does have some very nice features. If you are bothered by a cute interface such as this, then this metronome isn't for you. I don't mind though, music is for all ages!

Some great features in particular:

  • Different metronome tones are easy to access. Frog, piano, clicks, etc - best of all - DRUMS!
  • Change the meter from 4/4 time to 3/4, 2/4, 1/4 and 0/4 time. Useful!
  • Game - you can do some things with the elephant - not telling you what... find out!

Check out this metronome at and you can find it in the App Store.

My daughter is taking piano lessons, and this is a perfect practice helper for her.
