I ended up in 14th place, but my time was slow - 2:58. Read on to find out what happened.
The race went really well in the beginning. There was a slight head wind, and we started at 8:30 on the south side of the river. I ran according to my plan, at about 2:45 projected pace. Then between 22 and 27 km was a long climb up to the bridge. It was quite hard, since this climb was 5 km long, but I still felt good and passed others. At this point, I believe I was around 5th place actually.1114 Participants ran the marathon.

Quebec City 8.29.10 - When will I listen to my own advice? This year the weather is a whopping 86 degrees Fahrenheit. There is nothing like a race in the heat with absolutely no shade. And why does this start at 8:30AM for marathoners and 7:30AM for walkers? 8:30AM is a late start . Not a good comeback marathon after taking off 3.5 months from all exercise and working 80 hour work weeks. Thanks to all giving out the wet sponges and the water. We would not have made it without you.

I think most of us here Rob think your time was pretty decent. Given the weather conditions not being ideal... you did pretty darned good. Good luck in Regina next week.
Cheers,
David
