Have you ever heard of the Hawaiian musician "Israel Kamakawiwo'ole"? Neither had I, until I stumbled onto this wonderful recording. You may have heard it featured in commercials and/or films. This song is a great jazz tune which I have played a few times over the years. When I heard this version, I was immediately impressed by the beauty in this performance. It's played with an Ukule, and the voice of this man was truly something else.
This man was heavily overweight and died in 1997, only 38 years young. It's sad when talented people die so young.
Sometimes you hear a song that affects you in some "deeper" way - I think it happens to most of us, and it's hard to say why - it just happens. I had that happen to me when I heard this recording. They way he is phrasing the melody when he sings is so classy and beautiful. That voice is something else.
I am posting this song just because I like it. Maybe you will like it too - let me know.

Comment added on April 10, 2009Dear RR, Iam 67 year old retired school teacher and over 40 year vet of weekend warrior honky tonk singing and playing. I play rythm and sing and have done solo duo and band stuff for 50 years. I have to say that this IZ video had me in tears. Again shows the POWER of music in its simplest most primitive form when well performed. I really enjoy your site. It is so well done and informative. Keep up the great work and thanks so much. God bless...Jim Farmer aka Jaime Santiago
