The Squier Classic Vibe guitars are getting some very favorable comments from a lot of people. The reason is obvious - it's and inexpensive but very good guitar. The options are the Classic Vibe Telecaster '50s, the Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s and '60s and the Duo-Sonic '50s.
They look great too. The Tele especially has been getting a lot of attention. It's got a blonde finish and the body is made out of pine. That's the first time I've heard of a pine Telecaster. The neck is maple and has 21 medium jumbo frets. The radius is 9.5 inches, with a modern C shape.
The pickups are Alnico III, and they do sound very good. I don't think it's necessary to upgrade the pickups, unless you need noiseless perhaps.
The bridge is a Vintage style string-thru body with a 3-Brass Barrel saddles.
It's a vintage looking guitar with a cool vibe - the black pickguard makes it look quite awesome I think!
I have an older Standard Telecaster, but if you are looking for a good Tele for not much money, I'd say get this one. Many people think it's as good or better than the Mexican Fender Telecasters, so I would recommend trying both and see what you think. It sure isn't a big investment, so I would highly recommend the Classic Vibe guitars from Squier to anyone looking for an old-school type of guitar with high quality for low dollars. Great sound, fantastic value, great vintage look. What else would you want?

I got a Classic Vibe Tele myself, and I must say I'm impressed. It came out the box ready to play. I've had it for about a month, and no problems what so ever. Did hum a bit at higher volumes, but I took care of that what Fender Noiseless pick ups, and added a 4 way pick up switch for a bit more variety. Squire did good.
Comment added on October 24, 2009Absolutely! I purchased a Classic Vibe Tele some three weeks ago and I'm quite impressed with this really not so expensive (you might even say "cheap") guitar. Looks, workmanship and sound are definitely excellent! I had been saving on a Fender Mexico Tele or possibly the Lite Ash variety which (both) I had tested in a shop before, but when I plugged the Squier Classic Vibe into a vintage Acoustic tube combo at the shop and played a bit I knew the quest was over. I just loved it – and do still!
After a week I changed strings from the standard factory 009-042 set to my preferred 010-046 and I experienced a very noticeably rise of the action – something I had not encountered with my other guitars before. Quite irritating! I had to have the neck adjusted (the truss rod is – unlike with real vintage Teles - conveniently accessible from the headstock) and to my relief the guitar was perfectly playable again. BTW - as Teles with 3 piece bridges can be tricky: the intonation had been perfect right out of the box and could be easily adapted to the heavier strings after the change – no out of tune double stops up the neck here. Very cool!
In short: a cool looking, good feeling and good sounding Tele for astonishingly little money! I'm very happy to have got one.
