They are nice! I really like the semi-dirty tones it produces. Add your top gain pedal, and you've got a great little rig.

Yeah, those are pretty decent amps. Versatile too.

These amps have great tone, I really liked the ones I've tried.  However, please be warned.  I bought a used one from Guitar Center, it sounded awesome when I demo'd it for about 1/2 hour.  So I put a deposit down and bought it the next day.  However, within 5 minutes of playing it, it started this weird crackle.  At first, I thought it was one of my cables.  I went though each cable and the problem never went away.  An amp tech I knew took it home for the weekend to fix it.  At first he discovered the V1 tube (1st 12AX7 preamp tube) was bad.  He replaced it and the amp sounded good for about 1/2 hour.  He came back a few hours later and discovered the amp blew that tube too.  He tried a third tube and it also blew up.  I took the amp back and had them look for another.  The few I could find, also had the same problem.  I would be very careful purchasing this amp, at least buy the extendened warrenty.  You may need it!  I also checked with Peavey's forums and found this to be a common problem.

I'm going to eat some crow on this.  I went back to guitar center and they had another VK112.  The bad one I had was still there, so I know it wasn't the same one.  So I am returning my JCA112 for this amp.  A friend went with me and he agreed the amp rocked.  I'm hoping someone traded this amp in for something different and not for trying to hide a defective unit... Not to mention, the used price is $199.
