Hi Hillbilly Joe
If you tell what you know about the C major scale, I could perhaps help you easier
Generality
The main thing, is that the C major scale is exactly the same than all the others major scales but transposed
Ex: C maj scale notes and intervals are
C (1 step) D (1 step) E (1/2 step) F (1 step) G (1 step) A (1 step) B (1/2 step) C
All the white on a piano
Now, look the G major scale with the always same intervals
G (1 step) A (1 step) B (1/2 step) C (1 step) D (1 step) E (1 step) F# (1/2 step) G
You see, if you respect these intervals between the notes, you'll find all the notes of all the 12
scales You'll find
1 sharp notes on key of G - (F#)
2 sharp notes on key of D - (F# / C#)
3 sharp notes on key of A - (F# / C# / G#)
4 sharp notes on key of E - (F# / C# / G# / D#)
5 sharp notes on key of B - (F# / C# / G# / D# / A#)
6 sharp notes on key of F# - (F# / C# / G# / D# / A# / E#)
7 sharp notes on key of C# - (F# / C# / G# / D# / A# / E# / B#)
Now, try the same intervals begining with F
F (1 step) G (1 step) A (1/2 step) Bb (1 step) C (1 step) D (1 step) E (1/2 step) F
This time, is appeared a Flat note (Bb)
Now, try yourself to find to find the notes of these others major scales
Bb
Eb
Ab
Db
Gb
Cb
OK now you've got all the notes of all the major scales
See "the cycle of the fifth"
Funny no?
I wish i've been useful, clear and not wrong
