Yeah, Danny Gatton Danny Gatton Danny Gatton.  I don't have any of his records.  I'm afraid I'll get depressed he's so f...ing good.  I love his tone.  You can hear the maple fretboard when he plays.

You're absolutely right, to each his/her own. Y'know, it's kinda funny 'cause that post was an indirect response to the individual I was tellin' you about.LOL!

He's another one I had the pleasure to meet. I met him in 1987, at a club called "The Gentry" in Washington, DC. He was hangin' out there on a Monday night, (It was open mike night) and was scheduled to play the following night. After I got off stage, he came up to me, and complimented me on my set. I thanked him, and that was that.My harp player says to me "You know who that was?" I told him no. He says to me, "thats Danny Gatton!" I said oh...! Strange thing about it all was up to that point, I had only heard of him, and wasn't familiar with his music. What is it thats said about hindsight? 20/20?

I don't care if he was lyin, which I'm sure he wasn't.  I'd never get over a compliment like that.

Religion...well, I know many very secular people who are more religious than the most fanatical religious people you can think of.  There are extremes in everything.  Now music?  It's not a bad thing to be "religious" about.  Make it a routine...something you dedicate yourself to.  It is a gift that touches mankind deeply and always will.  I'm not an atheist due to the fact that it's difficult for me to believe that we accidentally have the ability to contemplate what this is all about (life that is;-)

When I really got serious about guitar was when I heard Clapton with Cream for the first time.  My mother and some girls from her office took me to see Jimi Hendrix at the Filmore in San Francisco.  How many kids can say their mom did THAT for them?  Smiley))

I love blues, fusion, jazz, even classical.

If I had to make up a list?

Clapton
Hendrix
Robben Ford
Larry Carlton
Steve Lukather
Jay Graydon
Herb Ellis
Joe Pass
Vince Gill
Bonnie Raitt
Lowell George
Duane Allman
Wes Montgomery
Joe Walsh
Don Felder
Sonny Landreth
Derek Trucks
John Mayer
Don Neary (great old jazz player/teacher)

See what happens?  It's endless...I've heard too may people I really like.

Your mom took you to see Jimi Hendrix? Oh man, you got lucky big time! I would do anything to see Jimi Hendrix live!
