<y amp Has a Buzz
« on: February 19, 2011, 07:24:23 PM »
I bought a Blues Junior NOS during August 2010.  I play a PRS 513 that has 5 single coil pickups.  Lately I've noticed a buzz or hum when I turn the reverb up to around 4.  Some folks think its the tube that interacts with the reverb.  Some folks think the single coil pickups don't work well with reverb.  Today  I don't hear the noise (probably because the amp new I was going to take it to a local shop).

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of problem?

Either the tube(s) have bad contacts or going bad.

single coils always have hum unless they are "noiseless".  I'd check your tubes just in case.

Does it hum on all settings of the 5-way switch and the rotary switch? If yes...I would suspect tubes. I suppose you have already tried different guitar cables?
