My Only Band Solo
« on: March 08, 2011, 10:32:40 AM »
For the short time in a blues band as the rhythm guitarist, I was asked on a rare opportunity to play a solo.  So here it is.  Never thought I be as nervous as I was, but I was trying to impress the band.

Nice cut. I only heard one guitar for the most part, was that you? Anyways, I enjoyed that tune.

There were two guitars.  The recordings were done by the lead guitarist who kept his amp closer to the only mic for the instruments, it over powered mine every time.  I had to keep turning my amp up to the point of the singer screaming at us.  That was my last night at the band.  The lead guitarist refused to move the microphones or turn down his amp.  So he quit too.  I wanted to stay, but I really didn't feel like there was any fun in a band that takes themselves so seriously...

That's why I turn down recent offers to join a band. I've outgrown that..... let's just say crap. However, I wish you well DB. You got what it takes!

Yep, that's me.  It was the first song of the night and I was not expecting to play any solo's.  It was a thrilling moment for me and there was only one take.  As you can hear, its a decent blues band.  Especially the harp player.  He's got the most talent out of all of them.

I liked it a lot! Too bad the lead player was hogging the mic.  ::)

I've thought about going back to the band since they've spent two months and still can't find a guitarist.  But my better judgement tells me NO!

The harp player has great skill, but he is a push over.  He's got the practice space and the support of the drummer and bass player.
