I had one of those amps and its one of the amps I regret the most for getting rid of.

There are 15 different voices that simulate different amp models and manufactures from old school tweed to modern mesa/marshall like tones.  Granted, they are not spot on since the amp is only a 15W with a 10" speaker.  But it sounds great.  The reverb and delay do a great job.  I have a couple clips of little jams I did using the super champ XD with a fender strat with no other effects on here.

I love that amp and would get one again.

There is an external 1/4 jack on the back of the amp which is for going to a mixer not another cab as I learned.  However you can unplug the internal speaker and run the amp out to another cab.  Really killer going to a 2x12 cab for sure!

I hear a lot of love stories about that amp, although I have not tried it myself. Sounds like a winner to me.

For less than $200 on the used market, its a really good deal to me.  But there are plenty others that sound pretty sweet in that price range.

As Fate would have it, for $195 with a really nice upgraded speaker on my local Craigslist.

i have one. it's about to go in a garage sale a friend is having.

there is nothing wrong with them...i'm just not really into 'lots of choices on the amp'. i've got to cut down (i have something like 5 or 6 speaker cabs i built, you see?)...so, you can tell by this list:

fender champ 600
epiphone valve jr. head
vht special 6
thd univalve (el 34 and two 12ax7s)

i'm just not a 'complex amp' kind of guy.  steve winwood uses a fender something or other-the high end digital manipulated amp-and sounds wonderful. me, i get lost and confused. i have 3 pedals on my pedal board....i'm not into 'complexity'.

having played it next to a 'nos blues jr', for me, i would rather have had the blues jr. (and likely will at some point). the champ xd had me going all over it's choices, looking for the greener grass at first. then i realized after i had it a year or so, all i used was the blues jr., the tweed and the vox settings. so much for choices...meat and taters for me.

You sound a bit like me, reb. I've got a Mustang I which has about a jillion different possibilities, but I've pretty much settled into using 3 or 4 presets I've made. Part of it is because i like the way they sound but part is  because I was finding myself spending more time fiddling with the thing than playing.

True enough, I only used a couple settings.  Every now in then I'd mess around with some of the settings as the clip I recorded demostrated.

gerbear, i don't think you need 'help', i think you need a second job, so you can buy 'em all! :)

listen....sometime, when i think i have G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome) for a new guitar, i'm going to take that zoom H1 i use to record, and go to some music stores...and play them into the h1. then i'm going to go home and listen on headphones.

does that sound like something that would help you at all? the h1s are cheap ($100) and if mine broke, i'd buy another one. not having it would 'stop a lot of music' for me.

yeah, pic. i'm not asking your age-none a my bidness....somewhere in my 30s, i got drifting towards 'simple'. complexity was killing me. the older i get, the more i'm getting rid of 'complex'. sometimes, an apple is just...an apple. i don't need cinnamon, wine, cheese, a stick and taffy or fudge or carmel or whatever to enjoy it.

REB I THINK YOU ARE RITE MAYBE IAM TOO YOUNG FOR GETTING ALL THIS GEAR.
Sorry for all the caps, bad manners I guess.
When I grow up I will get rid of some of the stuff I have gotten in the last 73 years.
But Heck Im too young [or am I too ole?] to save for my old age now.

Maybe I should look for one tho if I need to get all this gear.
I really dont need the gear, I just have to have more then I now have.

I've had #1, and #2. I 'd prefer #1 because of it's versatility. #2 is a one trick pony......but that's just me.

Wattage doesn't mean much, but pushing more air, such as the 1x12 Peavey makes a huge difference.  If you plan on using pedals or a multi-effects unit, I think the Peavey would be your best bet.  The Superchamp is really nice, but you will have to manually adjust the effects to go back and forth on them which is a little difficult on the fly if your playing with a band or on stage.

gb, it would appear this is not about 'need', but about 'want'. therefore, since i have a long list of wants, i can advise of this...i am not going to get everything i want.  i have heard it said that 'he who dies with the most stuff wins'.  if that is true, then i am losing every month that passes :) like a stuffed toy, my stuffing seems to be falling out....

i came very close to pulling the rip cord on a fender champ reissue...ams had one marked down $160 as 'non factory sealed'. i could not get all the ducks into one bucket to get that to happen. now that it has not, i'm not disappointed.  the things i don't get are slowly ceasing to bother me. some of the things that i DO get turn out to be a pain in the derriere (nods to canada's french population).

i do, however, need a couple sets of new strings. i've been buying d'addario, but i was reading an old guitar player. one of their 'tone secrets' was 'new strings'. i've been lax about strings....perhaps it's time to rethink my financial priorities and capability? strings would be 'within reach'...at least a few sets would.
