Fender Pro Jr.
« on: November 04, 2010, 09:37:37 PM »
I just scored two fender Pro Jr. amps for the unbeliveable price of three hundred bucks. Got 'em both from off of CL from two different people. One tweed (cap problem), one black (good condition). I'm keepin' the tweed. I already fixed it after I got home today with some stuff I had in stock (Ruby caps). Man this thing sounds great! I sold the black one  about four hours ago. Wish I can come across deals like this every week!

Lucky you! I have a tweed one too.

Great little amps. I can see why Jeff Beck uses them on tour.

I think they're stellar little amps too.

The Jeff Beck on tour thing?  I read that he wants to use champs on tour too, but when you look at his amps on stage, they're always marshalls.  I think he likes to BS us gear nuts in his interviews.  I think in another interview he said he turns the bass all the way off on his amp.  Its not impossible but I'm not gonna run and turn down my bass.  I could be way wrong but I really think he's just tired of giving the same old answers in interviews.

I stand corrected.  I googled it and found a photo of a pro JR stacked up on a marshall amp on JBs stage.

Great scores!  A friend of mine uses them for modification to include making them into a 2x12 combo.

I know it's been awhile since this subject has been touched on, but I just saw this special "Jeff Beck Honors Les Paul" on a local  TV channel. Dude (Jeff Beck, that is) had four (count 'em) Fender Pro Jrs on top of two Fender 2x12 cabs. Two Texas Reds, and one tweed. Well, the more I watched.... one of them amps  couldv've been a Blues Jr I guess. I think these shows were recorded at different times and put into one big package for station donations. That's how them PBS stations do it.
They where playin' 50's style Rock an' Rock with reverb a plenty! Oh yeah, in case y'all aren't familiar with  PBS TV station..... here's pretty much what it's all about.
Public Broadcasting Service, an American non-profit public (listener supported) broadcasting television service. Just I thought I'd throw that in there.

Its a heck of deal.  I'd taken the black one and put the amp in a new larger cabinet.

Well, this is kind of an update.....the Pro Jr. is history (Too much for my needs). I need a bedroom amp to replace my VCXD. I'm goin' with the Blackstar HT-5. Nice amp.

I think Blackstar is quickly becoming the amp of choice for guitarist on a budget wanting a real tube/valve amp and needing some real serious dirt.
