Line6 Guitar Port
« on: September 29, 2011, 06:27:25 PM »
I recently had a good win on Ebay for the grand some of $35 brand new for a Line6 Guitar Port & software,
What a cool gadget not only does it connect to my laptop with heaps of amps, cabs, stompbox's etc but it has lineouts to plug into
my Yamaha home stereo system, nowhere near as good tone as my Tweaker but pretty impressive for the dollars, anybody else have one?

I have a Line 6 TonePort and it's great. The amount of sounds I can get with the Pod Farm 2 software is insane. Awesome!

Does the Guitar Port use Pod Farm or Gearbox as well?

Hi Robert, Yes it uses Gearbox & Riffworks Line6 Edition, I think Riffworks must be a free sample because I don't seem to be able to record
anything, I must need to upgrade to another package, Riffworks standard I think
it is around $60 to upgrade if I want to record & export to wav files, seems a bit complicated I thought I would be able to record to the CubaseLE4 software that I have or Audacity.
But it is still great to use for headphone practise, if I need to record I guess I can just put my Zoom H1 recorder up to my speaker cab.
Cheers, Rich.

Thanks Hagarfreak, Yeh I did download Line6 monkey but I have to spend $60 to upgrade & I am tapped out money wise after buying new
guitar & a delay pedal, will put on hold till I save some more I am not to worried about the recording side of things. Maybe once I become a
legendary player Ha-Ha. But yes the guitar port is great for late night practise.  :)

I think you should check-when i bought my guitarport it came with the full version of riffworks line 6-you should email riffworks support -they are very good i have dealt with them a lot.
The other thing you might try is right clicking the volume control in the corner of your screen-click properties and make sure all the recording and playback devices are set to use guitar port instead of your default device. :)

Thanks for that, I think the problem is I brought the Guitar Port off ebay It was in sealed pak with the software but when I put the disc in my computer it would not work, after a lot of fiddling I read the box & it was not compatible with Windows Vista, I sent a message to the shop that sold it to me but he said that there is no returns on the item so I had to just download a free version of Riffworks to get it all working. I guess thats why the shop sold it so cheap on ebay $35 it must have been one of the first versions of Guitar Port, but I think I might try sending Riffworks an email & explain the situation.

one more thing and i will stop bothering you :)
If you have the box or receipt email Riffworks support-when i had to upgrade from windows xp to windows 7 they gave it to me half price-because the line 6 version was discontinued. 8)

Hey mate, You are not bothering me I really appreciate all your help. This forum seems to be really good when it comes to honest help, unlike some forums where if you don't buy $300 boutique pedals your a loser. ( Don't get me wrong if you can afford it or you are a pro player go for it, but I am none of the above ) I will fire off an email to Riffworks support as I have the box & receipt. I will probably over time ask you guys/girls all sorts of questions so keep firing back replies. By the way what has happened to all the female guitarists any out in Dolphinstreet Land?
Cheers.

Yes I have been able to get it recording with Audacity, only one thing I need to figure out now is how to record my backing track to Audacity.
I can play along with a BT in gearbox & hear it fine through headphones but Audacity only  records my guitar not the BT as well, you would think if I can hear it in the headphones Audacity would record both?
Very strange, thanks for all help.

When i use it with audacity i load the backing track in audacity instead of Gearbox-then it will record both and you can edit them

I couldn't remember the last time I recorded with a backtrack.  Glad someone remembered how.
