i have two computers, joe.
my zoom h1 is essentially what you've got there. the xp computer pulls up the usb connection when i plug it in, the w7 computer does not.
on the w7, i open windows explorer, find the h1, open it, and 'copy' the file i want. then i 'paste' the file into 'my music' (or whatever your computer calls your music folder). you don't have to use the 'my music' or 'music'; you can start a new folder and cal it whatever you like, also.
you may be asked by the computer to transfer some software, but i don't think so. most mp3 players i have messed with automatically interface with the computer. if not, the manufacturer's website may have what you need to make it work.
for 28 bucks to be able to transfer music back and forth, yeah, it's a bargain. my used mp3 player cost me $32 from amazon. if you do a search for mp3 files, there are some archives around with all kinds of stuff on them...i have downloaded some live grateful dead jams, some classical...some audio on different things (some guy giving a lecture, for example). you'll likely enjoy this doodad.
