I just bought one of these
« on: January 20, 2012, 12:12:37 AM »
Can someone tell me how to take the music on my computer and put it into one of these, please. I've never owned one of these before. I'm so far behind in computers.

It cost me ¥3000 or about $28

I think it is a good price

it should be really simple to do.  there are 3 possibilities.  first plug it into your computer via the supplied usb cable. when your computer recognizes the device, press the windows button+E on your computer. that will bring up windows explorer.  navigate through your files to where you store your mp3s.   you should just be able to drag them onto your mp3 player, as if it were an external drive.

OR

you could also use windows media player to do that

OR
you could also use winamp.

any of these options should work.

i have two computers, joe.

my zoom h1 is essentially what you've got there. the xp computer pulls up the usb connection when i plug it in, the w7 computer does not.

on the w7, i open windows explorer, find the h1, open it, and 'copy' the file i want. then i 'paste' the file into 'my music' (or whatever your computer calls your music folder). you don't have to use the 'my music' or 'music'; you can start a new folder and cal it whatever you like, also.

you may be asked by the computer to transfer some software, but i don't think so. most mp3 players i have messed with automatically interface with the computer. if not, the manufacturer's website may have what you need to make it work.

for 28 bucks to be able to transfer music back and forth, yeah, it's a bargain. my used mp3 player cost me $32 from amazon.  if you do a search for mp3 files, there are some archives around with all kinds of stuff on them...i have downloaded some live grateful dead jams, some classical...some audio on different things (some guy giving a lecture, for example). you'll likely enjoy this doodad. :)

this is true...if one has an input jack on their car radio, one can play all kinds of stuff you will never hear on regular radio or cd.

Yeah, I'm fortunate to have a JVC car radio that has an input jack.

i mean riding the subway or bus/streetcar.   instead of listening to inane phone conversations, screaming babies,  languages i can't understand, i can listen to radio station EXP.
tonight, they are featuring an interview of a very peculiar looking gentleman, who goes by the name of mr. paul carusoe, on a rather dodgy subject.

geez, dh! i don't envy you that kind of trip. cell phones and babies have become far too ubiquitous for me. i'm glad i don't live even 'near' a city any more.

the last bus i was on came out of grand central. i hadda sit by a fat guy who kept edging into my seat. i finally elbowed him...he glared at me, and i glared back. then he kept 'in his space'. i really did not enjoy those days at all.

That subject wouldn't be about space ships and even space people..... would it? ;D

You are lucky to be away from the masses reb, the bigger the Gold Coast gets the more I hate the place I am sorry this is off subject but I was doing some food shopping yesterday & a lovely young asian girl came to serve me at the counter when a pig of a man came over & said hey you slanty eyed bitch I was before this guy, well the poor girl starts crying & the steam starts coming outa my ears, I am not an aggro type & it takes a lot to send me over the edge but I was about to cave the guys nose in when the manager came & took the moron aside. If I didn't have my small business here I would be well away like you reb. Sorry 'bout the rave lads. ::)

MLJ, i may start a thread on my experiences on the two coasts here....in the 70s, the scientists did a study of rats and 'crowding'. they found at a certain point, the rats forgot everything else, even breeding, and just fought with each other....:(

it took everything i had physically to 'get here' (and then some-paying for that off and on), and nearly all i had financially...but it is as peaceful for the moment as anywhere on earth can be, i think. is to me, anyway. where i lived before, everyone was watching who went up and down our road, and that place wasn't so bad, really...just 'too close'.  yeah...off topic...but...think of joe in japan! the anthropologists say what saves the japanese from killing each other is their cultural politeness. i've never been there, but friends who have tell me that is true.

yes, joe?

I think in the big cities, people are like rats. Years ago I would always see drunks fighting at the train stations. These days I don't know because I live somewhat out of the city. Politeness is still common but the younger generation are losing the Japanese touch of politeness as I hear from the older generation.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help. But I still haven't figured it out.

Yeh the big thing here at the moment with the young ones is Gangsta Rap & Hip Hop, call me an old fart but I reckon Rap is for people that can't sing ha-ha. :D
Hey hillbilly-joe I was just thinking ( Careful I might do myself damage ) If you have an Iphone or Android phone with you all the time, you could have put all of your music onto it, I have an Ipod that I use at home but when I am out & about I always carry a mobile phone with me for work & I have a heap of music on that, saves carrying two bits of gear & the sound quality is awesome.
Another thing when I am home I don't use earbuds in my MP3 I use a set of good headphones, I find you get a lot more bass. ::)

Tell me hillbilly- joe if you don't mind that is, are you Japanese born or just living in Japan & how is life there after the disasters? I have never visited, only a short stopover at Narita airport for a few hours on the way to Korea.
