old goat with arthritis, age related insanity...picked up guitar again after 40 year hiatus. a fender musicmaster II was my first love through a montgomery wards amplifier with a 12" speaker. we had no idea about watts in those days; a fender deluxe reverb looked like a monster to us. had a gibson b-25 which died along the way. but had to earn a living.  Creedence Clearwater was not the only band that had no silver spoon in their mouth...so, everything went...along with whatever skill i had, and i played with the suits for bread. play by ear; don't read notes, although i do understand some of notation from singing in a choir for a few years.

love cheap guitars, cheap amps, simple pedal setups. always cruising for stuff sent back...recently, got my hands on a 'used' Ibanez artcore AS 73. i think the reason it was sent back was the strings had two winds on the posts...and, of course, it wouldn't stay in tune at all. restrung, i think it sounds as good as some other '335 clones' i have played, but then my hearing is not as good as it was when i was 20, either. it was supposed to have 'minor scratches indicating use'; it had a couple string gouges on the headstock...not bad...the mark of someone not paying attention. great neck, smooth sound...the bridge pup has a little bark to it when tweaked right. still dazzled at my bargain...cherry red.

trying to learn recording...last time i recorded (prior to the last 3 years) was with a reel to reel Sears Roebuck tape machine, with the standard microphones....you'd have to have lived in the 60s to know really grungy sound-not artificially generated, but 'the best we could get'....Pearl Jam had no clue. think luther dickinson is an up and coming writer/musician. like ol' blue eyes...still like to hear james taylor. miss jimi, jerry and janice....think there are some people who are famous who would be put to better use digging ditches instead, while some who are digging ditches should be famous.

so, here to learn and share.
