This is an analog octave pedal, and it provides a simple but cool effect - the adding of the octave note below the note you are playing. It can actually add a single octave down, as well 2 octaves down.
This pedal has been discontinued, but you can usually found them really cheap on eBay. It is similar to the Boss OC-3, which is the octave pedal I would recommend if you are not buying the Arion.
Well, I was curious about this too when I bought it. Turns out it certainly does not track perfectly. It only works on single notes, and low notes on the E string creates a weird, oscillating effect that sounds like that amp is broken... however, the pedal can still be fun.
I find that it works best on notes that ring for a short time, and it's best to use only the one octave down. If you use it this way, it sound really cool for some funky or jazzy leads. It also works great for groovy bass lines. Long, sustaining notes is not its best feature, and I imagine the shortcomings are because it's an analog pedal. The digital octave effects are more accurate, but they also often sound more sterile.
In summary, it's not the best octave pedal, but it is very cheap and if you use it in the way I've described, you can have a lot of fun with.
