This is a delay pedal with really good features and a really good sound. The price is right - you can usually get one for under $230 new, which is a lot of value for the money.
The Boss DD-20 Giga Delay has 11 delay modes, and you can have up to 23 seconds of tape delay. Sound-on-sound recording is also available.
The DD-20 is a dual stompbox. The left switch is for turning the sound on and off, and the right switch can have 3 different modes:
The right pedal also performs a tab tempo functionality. You press and hold the pedal down for 2 seconds, and now you have a tap tempo pedal. There is a tempo indicator which flashes in thime with the tempo being entered with the tap pedal.
My initial reaction is that this is a VERY good delay pedal. It has a great features, and really good sounds. I don't think it can be beat for what you pay for it. It's a winner in my book.
I use it last in my chain of effects. It works really well this way. It doesn't color the tone and even if you have several active effects before it, it still works well.
I do believe that reverb and delay sounds best in the effects loop of an amp. However, if you do that, in order to have the pedal accessible on the floor, you need long cables from the amp to the pedal. I find this messy, because of all the extra cabling needed. That's why I just use the DD-20 at the end of my effects chain, before the amp.
I'll be back soon with more details and comments regarding this pedal.
