Danelectro Fab Distortion Review

Digitech FAB Distortion - I bought mine in November 2005. It is the cheapest pedal I ever bought, I think they go for under $20.00 - but don't let it fool you. It actually sounds really good! It doesn't have that fizzy, sharp sound that some distortion pedals have - it is in fact very smooth. Tt has a really nice, organic distortion tone, similar to the Maxon SD9 pedal.

It is made out of plastic and doesn't seem very sturdy, so take good care of it. Don't stomp too hard! I really like the sound of this dinky little thing. With a good clean tube amp, this pedal gives you sustain and clarity. At this price, this pedal is a steal. You may want to check out their Overdrive pedal too.

This dinky little plastic toy called FAB Distortion was a big surprise to me. This pedal is worth getting if you are looking for a decent distortion pedal that isn't too gainy and wild. It works really well for blues and rock.

Tip for another distortion pedal

For a true bypass, sturdy quality pedal, take a look at Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion - a really great distortion pedal a few steps above the Fab Distortion.
