Line 6 Toneport UX1 Review
The Toneport is a fairly new offering from Line 6, the company behind the POD. Line 6 is one of most well known companies in the world of guitar and guitar amp modeling.
The Toneport UX1 has been discontinued. Line 6 keep coming out with smaller and better USB interfaces, but I do recommend this one if you want to get started with recording guitar on your computer. You can find these used on eBay for peanuts.
So what is the Toneport?
The Line 6 Toneport is a USB audio interface combined with software for performing front end sound processing. This means you plug in the Toneport to your computer's USB port, run the software that comes with the Toneport, called GearBox, plug in your guitar and the fun begins. You listen to the guitar sounds you create by using headphones or plug in a pair of speaker monitors.
What it is designed to do is to recreate the sound of vintage and modern guitar and bass amps. Not only that, it also simulates guitar amp cabinets & effects, and quality microphone pre-amps.
