Pedaltrain Review

Pedaltrain make some nice pedalboards and I was in desperate need of a new pedalboard, because my old one that I made myself out a of a suitcase started to fall apart; the lid wouldn't close properly so risked dropping all my pedals when I picked up the thing.

I went pedalboard review hunting on the web, and I found that a lot of guys talk about the Pedaltrain pedalboards. These pedalboards are used by many professionals, as well as home players. The things that stand out are:

  1. Affordable - the pricing is attractive
  2. Light weight - made of aluminum so there's not much weight to talk about
  3. Versatile - they come with velcro strips ready to attach and routing cables underneath is easy

There are no moving parts. The board itself is made out of aluminum alloy tubing and it is very strong. There is a durable powder coat finish on top of the aluminum and it looks great and it won't come off.

The idea is quite simple, really. The board has an open frame, elevated angle design. Your cables can be neatly routed over, under, and through the open slots in the top surface area of the Pedaltrain. This is great for getting all the cables out of sight and mind.

Your pedals can be rearranged easily, because your Pedaltrain comes with plenty of industrial grade velcro, along with detailed instructions to set everything up. You can easily and securely mount virtually any effects pedal. I got mine setup in half an hour, with all pedals attached as I wanted them.

Cable ties are also included with your Pedaltrain, so you fasten all cables underneath so that everything is tidy and easy to move around without cables hanging from underneath. It's really easy to get things set up on this pedalboard.

If you have a VoodooLab Pedal Power 2 or similar, your are in luck. The Pedaltrain comes with brackets and screws for mounting such a unit underneath the Pedaltrain, and there are holes pre-made for the cables. Very nice!

I ordered mine with the hard case. This hard case is very sturdy and solidly built. It will protect your pedals very well. There is also a soft case option, if you want less weight and size for carrying. The hard case is quite heavy, and with the pedals in there, it makes for a good workout to carry this thing around. However, I'd rather deal with that than risk getting my pedals damaged in transportation.

I highly recommend the Pedaltrain boards. I think they are hard to beat, because of the price and the versatility they offer.
