Guitar Lesson Overview

Here is a useful blues lick that sounds great over the IV chord. In a 12 bar blues, we always play the IV chord on the 5th bar, so that's where you can throw in this type of lick. You should experiment with changing the ending of the lick. It's mostly the first six notes that make this lick "click". I am sure you have heard this lick before. I first heard it from Stevie Ray Vaughan, and I think he got it from Freddie King. Eric Clapton often plays this type of lick over the IV chord as well. Enjoy!

Guitar Theory Made Simple!

Understanding I-IV-V is an intensive 65 minute video that will give you a crash course on guitar theory. It is not a complete lesson on music theory. Instead, this is the perfect introductory tool to get you started on the guitar, or to reveal the secrets of the fretboard that you are not aware of yet. You will learn why chord numbers are far more important than chord letters, how to write your own songs and chord progressions effortlessly and endlessly, and much more.

Guitar Pro

I use Guitar Pro for most of my video lessons. It is a great product that will not only show you the notes in both TAB and standard notation, you will also HEAR them being played at the same you see them. Very helpful for learning! Click the link below to try the free demo.

Order Guitar Pro 6, and also get our guitar-playing method for free.

Video Clips

I have lots of gear demos too on this site. Go and take a look at some of my Guitar Videos for some examples of gear I use or have used.

Robert I have to tell you I like your approach to music and teaching. I have for years been in position in band of mostly playing Rhythm and My strong point has been singing . That said now that I am really into blues I have found your teaching very useful and look forward to your emails. Being a Disabled Vet I have time now to focus on learning. Thank for everything you do. I am going to look into DVD's and soon as I can muster up few extra dollars will be glad to donate to your site. You have a good marketing approach.
