The E mixolydian mode / scale. Useful for playing blues, jazz and country. This guitar lesson shows some pattern ideas for learning this scale. I plan to expand on this scale in future lessons to show some arpeggios and triads you can use when improvising with this scale.
Understanding I-IV-V is an intensive 65 minute video that will give you a crash course on guitar theory. It is not a complete lesson on music theory. Instead, this is the perfect introductory tool to get you started on the guitar, or to reveal the secrets of the fretboard that you are not aware of yet. You will learn why chord numbers are far more important than chord letters, how to write your own songs and chord progressions effortlessly and endlessly, and much more.
I use Guitar Pro for most of my video lessons. It is a great product that will not only show you the notes in both TAB and standard notation, you will also HEAR them being played at the same you see them. Very helpful for learning! Click the link below to try the free demo.
I have lots of gear demos too on this site. Go and take a look at some of my Guitar Videos for some examples of gear I use or have used.
I like your web site alot. You make it easy to understand. But I wish you would post more on guitar-pro format...
Comment added on February 02, 2009This scale is used in hard rock as well. Listen to Reb Beach from Winger to hear this mode used extensively in his playing!
Comment added on November 18, 2008Where did you learn to read my mind?!
That is exactly what I plan to do!
More in-depth lessons with tab and Guitar Pro files, for a small fee (PayPal).
Hi,
Robert, I have an idea to run across you. In reference to doing a blues dvd, why not have downloads lessons like peter vogl and jody worrell, that way we could select the style ie yjr blues, then pay for the particular download of the areas of that style of music we want to learn, understand and work on. Pretty much some of the things you already have but a little more in depth, what do ya think, thanks!!!!
