Want to Slow Down Videos to make it easier to learn? |
It has taken me hundreds of hours to produce all the lessons you see here. Support is needed for this to continue. If you are able to, please help the free lessons coming by providing a donation. |
Here's a cool sounding country guitar lick. It's not really a beginners lick, but you can start at a slow speed and work on playing it faster. It's important to play it cleanly, without too many clams.
In this example, they key is E, and it will sound good to play this over an E7 or E9. You should absolutely transcribe it to other keys as well, so that you can make use of it in different songs and keys. Let me know how you like this lick.
I highly recommend you buy Guitar Pro - it's the best software I have found for learning guitar tabs. All my lessons will from now on come with Guitar Pro files. You can download a trial version on the Guitar Pro website to see if you like it (I think you will).
Understanding I-IV-V is an intensive 65 minute video that will give you a crash course on guitar theory. It is not a complete lesson on music theory. Instead, this is the perfect introductory tool to get you started on the guitar, or to reveal the secrets of the fretboard that you are not aware of yet. You will learn why chord numbers are far more important than chord letters, how to write your own songs and chord progressions effortlessly and endlessly, and much more.
I use Guitar Pro for most of my video lessons. It is a great product that will not only show you the notes in both TAB and standard notation, you will also HEAR them being played at the same you see them. Very helpful for learning! Click the link below to try the free demo.
I have lots of gear demos too on this site. Go and take a look at some of my Guitar Videos for some examples of gear I use or have used.
I was wondering why you don't include any tabs with your lessons so people can learn them. It's hard to follow them just by watching with the speed you play.
Comment added on October 14, 2011That's a 19 Sixty 3 boost pedal. Great one too.
Comment added on December 03, 2010Hey Robert, Awsome video, this is a must learn.. By the way, what kind of pedal is that sitting on the heatseaker? Your ole buddy John.
Comment added on December 03, 2010Your "Country Pickin'" lick is yet another gem! I would love to see your take on some of Bonnamassa's live "Blues Deluxe." Yes, I will buy something from you again, shortly. I previously bought a Doug Seven CD. Your's is way more practical! You put a ton of promo work and woodshedding into your material. Can't help but be impressed, Robert!
Thank you, as always!
Great Lick Robert.one that has been incorporated in several styles.simple but effective run.may have to re visit a couple of country licks as result.Definitely Not a bad thing.Thank You,Mark
Comment added on December 03, 2010Robt, I appreciate the great work you've put into your site (Thanks!!!) and want to make a donation. I'm a bit confused by your point about identifying a video along with the donation. Are you referring to the videos that you make available for free on the site, or are you referring to another set of videos on the site?
Thanks,
Matt

Thanks guys! Alan, my lessons probably assume a little bit of experience with guitars. However, the lessons will give you something to work on for a good while. See the testimonials on the guitar DVD page.
Comment added on February 07, 2008Great video - thinking of buying a Squire Strat - just a beginner - are your lessons suitable for beginners?
