I have tons of great lessons at Master Guitar Academy. Join me there - it's where you can learn with me every week. That's also where all my DVDs and Premium Downloads are.

Here is a nice Stevie Ray Vaughan style lick. In this example I am playing in the key of E. This SRV lick uses mostly the regular blues scale, although there are 2 notes (Gb and F) which are not part of the blues scale.
It sounds good played slow or fast. Have a listen to Texas Flood, and you'll hear SRV burn off quite a few licks very similar to this one.
I highly recommend you buy Guitar Pro - it's the best software I have found for learning guitar. Many of my lessons come with Guitar Pro files. You can download a trial version on the Guitar Pro website to see if you like it (I think you will).
If you have not yet tried the web site JamPlay, you need to check it out. They have kindly offered a special 7 Day Free trial to visitors of Dolphinstreet. I have reviewed their site, and I have to say it is VERY impressive. So much good material to learn from.
JamPlay has over 535 hours of lessons, and currently 45 different teachers. The lessons are from 15 minutes to 1 hour.
The lessons come with printable materials and supplemental content - TAB, chord charts, exercises and a lot more. Here is an overview of some of the things you can learn at JamPlay.
Go ahead and give it a try, it is free for 7 days so you have nothing to lose.

I have lots of gear demos too on this site. Go and take a look at some of my Guitar Videos for some examples of gear I use or have used.
Very cool ! Love this one...as all the others as well of course :-)
Comment added on May 12, 2013Thanks Robert, Great lick I am a fan of the late great SRV, I was lucky to see him in Australia not long before his sad demise, Top lesson as per usual.
Richard.
I love this guy!
Comment added on April 28, 2010Robert: The Lick in the video is done on the 12th fret E and above but the tab starts G string 7th fret I figure you just transpose the same pattern to the 12th fret (no).............Jim PS the tab is SRV style lick1.pdf
Comment added on April 15, 2010Hey great as always. I really dug that closing turn around at the end of the Texas Shuffle a couple of days ags. I've almost got it worked out but we move on every day> Give ome thought to laying it down for the masses. Sincerly, Rusty
