Here is another blues turnaround lick, this one played in the key of E. This lick uses the open E string as you play the descending triplets. Sounds nice this way. Now, next thing you should try, is to play the same lick in a different key. Try the key of A, for example. What you will need to do is to transpose the lick, and figure out what fingering to use. That open E string we used in this example will not work in the key of A, so you will need to use one finger to fret that note, while those other two notes descend. Sorry if this sounds complicated, but I will provide you with tab for this lick in the key of A in the near future. However, try figuring it out yourself first. That is the best way to learn!
Understanding I-IV-V is an intensive 65 minute video that will give you a crash course on guitar theory. It is not a complete lesson on music theory. Instead, this is the perfect introductory tool to get you started on the guitar, or to reveal the secrets of the fretboard that you are not aware of yet. You will learn why chord numbers are far more important than chord letters, how to write your own songs and chord progressions effortlessly and endlessly, and much more.
I use Guitar Pro for most of my video lessons. It is a great product that will not only show you the notes in both TAB and standard notation, you will also HEAR them being played at the same you see them. Very helpful for learning! Click the link below to try the free demo.
I have lots of gear demos too on this site. Go and take a look at some of my Guitar Videos for some examples of gear I use or have used.
Gee, it sure would be nice to have the tab in pdf available--cause its not here
Comment added on February 03, 2012Where can we find the tabs to this turnaround? thanks I love it!!!!
Comment added on January 03, 2011Well explained - it is very difficult to see how players fingerings work - but you play it over in different ways and make it all very clear.
Thanks,
Geoff
