Steinberger GM4T Review

A one of a kind guitar!

History

I had my black Steinberger GM4T for over 10 years. It came with active EMG pickups. At the time I bought it, I had an aversion against EMG pickups, so I swapped them out for two Lace Sensor Gold and a Seymour Duncan Allan Holdsworth humbucker for the bridge position.

The Steinberger guitars are very well made, and what made them extra special is the material they are made out of. It is some sort of carbon composite, and on my GM4T, only the neck had this composite material. The body was still made out of wood.

The other thing that made my Steinberger special was the super-cool TransTrem tremolo system. It can can actually be set up so that you can tune down the whole guitar to a different key, while the guitar actually stays in tune!

The serial number on my Steinberger: N7198. I sold this guitar in 2004. I do regret it now!
