Bet you never heard of Barcelona Guitars? Thought so. Well, they are not usually mentioned in the same sentence as Fender, Gibson or Paul Reed Smith. No, these are mainly made for children and beginning musicians. As such, they are very affordable.
Barcelona also produces accordions, pianos, wood wind instruments and so on. Even banjos!
You may be wondering if it's all junk? Well, you may be surprised! They are not that bad actually. Perhaps you remember how poor the guitars made somewhere in China/Indonesia/Taiwan were, some 8-10 years ago. Well, things have changed. An inexpensive guitar today doesn't mean complete trash any more. Nope. Barcelona instruments are more than adequate for kids and beginners, and hey - they are affordable! I'm not saying they are up with Fender Standards or similar - those guitars cost hundreds more. Barcelona guitars cover the beginner group of players, with good quality for what you pay for.
Just have a look at this beauty:
If you are thinking about giving a child a guitar, do give these a try. They are of better quality than many other starter guitars I have seen. I wish I had one of these when I started out! I had some insanely crappy brand called Kasuga... oh man, don't get me started.
Here are some links to the Barcelona Guitars.
