BIAS Desktop Review - guitar amp plugin

The BIAS Desktop plugin from Positive Grid is a very nice tool for your digital audio workstation. It is provided in AU, VST, RTAS and AAX formats for Mac and PC as applicable.

You can easily build your tones by dragging and dropping various modules into your signal chain. It is super flexible since you can combine these modules however you want, and you can tweak them as you would on a real physical unit.

The interface design of BIAS Desktop is slick and easy to use.

What I think is the most interesting part about BIAS Desktop is that you design your own amps in DETAIL. You create your tones with a pre-amp, a tone stack, a power amp, two equalisers, a transformer and a cabinet. There's also a custom panel and an amp match component.

The BIAS Desktop Amp Designer allows you to first set up these components by swapping out tubes, preamp, transformer, tone stacks, cab and mic with simple mouse clicks to create your own custom amp models.

Furthermore, ToneCloud allows you to share your custom amp models and download thousands custom BIAS amp models created by other people.

Here is a good overview by my friend David Wallimann

Positive Grid BIAS Desktop comes in two versions.
