It seems we now have a lot of reverb pedals to choose from. A few years back, you were mostly stuck with either your amp's crappy spring reverb, or an expensive rack unit meant to run in an amp's effects loop. Ahh, the memories of days gone.
Well, these days, there are plenty of good reverb pedals. When I say good, I mean they are great for running in front of a clean sounding amp. Do not expect studio quality reverb, because these reverb stompboxes are not meant for studio usage. No, they are meant for us who have a good sounding amp but need a bit of "wetness" to our sound. Let's take a look at some good choices.
The TC Electronic TonePrint Hall of Fame Reverb is an instant classic. The TonePrint pedals mean instant access to custom pedal-tweaks made by your idols. What else? Well, True Bypass - zero loss of tone; Stereo in & out - added flexibility to fit any set-up; Analog-Dry-Through - maximum tonal integrity and clarity. Eleven reverb tones are included, from organic room, tile, and spring sounds, to epic Hall, Church, and Plate Reverbs, and TC's Toneprint technology lets you download custom artist presets via a simple USB connection. Sounds really good!
The Holy Grail Nano Reverb Pedal will make you a believer with its emulation of classic Spring reverb so faithful that even Dick Dale couldn't tell the difference. Next, get lost in the lush spaciousness of the Hall reverb and ask yourself, "how did they fit Notre Dame into such a small package?" Finally, reach enlightenment with the haunting Flerb. It's easy to get a killer reverb from this pedal.
There you have it - three good reverb pedal with a tiny footprint. I really like the small stompbox designs that are becoming more common. It's VERY nice to be able to tighten up a pedal board by using pedals that are small in size.
Which reverb pedal do YOU like best? I know there are many more out there!
