John Mayer no longer a Fender Artist

So, what happened? John Mayer has tweeted two messages which seem to indicate that his relationship with Fender is over.

The famous artist recently wrote to his 588,000+ followers on Twitter:

"I love Fender guitars and will continue to play them, but the fact is that the company as it is today isn't the same one I started with."

"Heads up to anyone thinking about owning my signature @Fender Stratocaster, they're no longer being made and I'm no longer a Fender artist."

It is quite surprising to see such comments posted publicly, and many fans around the world are wondering what happened.

My guess is that whatever deal Mayer had with Fender, it's been reduced in some way. Or, perhaps he had an argument with someone at Fender and decided to call it quits.
