Why Get the Amazon Kindle?

I admit it, the Amazon Kindle is pretty cool. It has some great things going for it. As a device for reading books, it works fantastically well. There is some serious competition for the Kindle, but the truth is, the Kindle does hold it's own. It was meant for text, and after a few iterations of the product - it simply does a wonderful job.

The Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G is a bit different from version 1 and 2. In particular, there are two features that stand out: the larger screen, and the native PDF reader. It is definitely possible to use the DX for work documents, because of the PDF reader. As well, the screen size and screen rotation provides a much better overall reading experience.

What appeals to me, is that the DX feels more like text and less like a device. This means it is getting closer to the stated goal of the Kindle, which is for the device to disappear, leaving only the joy of reading left. Are we there yet? I will say, we are very close.
