The Nikon D500, the long awaited follow-up to the D300S is finally coming.
In case you didn't know, I'm a hobby photographer, when I'm not playing guitar. I have an old D700, which I quite like. However, it's a bit outdated and some day I'd like to upgrade.
What is interesting about the D500 is that it is the fastest DX camera ever from Nikon: 10 frames per second. It is the first consumer Nikon that's worthwhile considering for serious sports shooting. It has the same AF system as the D5, and this system works amazingly well. This AF system is very sophisticated, and it has more AF points than ever before.
One thing missing that might bother some people is the omission of a built-in flash. I believe part of the reason for that is that Nikon wanted to make this camera seriously weather-proof.
The D500 comes with a tilting touch screen. This is the first time we see a tilting touch screen featured on a professional Nikon DSLR.
The D500 ships in March 2016 and apparently you may have to wait a long time if you wait for it to show up on shelves. You can order it directly from BH Photo Video, and get it faster.
