I want to share with you some great videos for learning more about EQ. These videos were made with drums in mind, but never mind that. What you learn in these videos is applicable to any instrument. The explanations and demonstrations are very thorough and clear, and very understandable. The information gathered in these videos is in many ways, UNIVERSAL. I highly recommend that you have a look at these videos if you want to get a better understanding of EQ when recording and mixing in your DAW.
The videos mention Ableton Live, but again, don't let that get in the way here. He is just using Ableton Live to demonstrate and teach - the information in the videos are applicable to any DAW - whether it be Logic, Pro Tools, etc.
I openly admit I learned quite a few things myself from watching these videos! I have never taken any courses when it comes to mixing. I have just learned along the way, through experience. These videos gave me some great knowledge and I'm better prepared for my next recording project.
The teacher is Craig McCullough, certified Ableton Trainer. The lessons are published via Groove Monkee, who make excellent midi drum loops, which I personally like and use a lot.
Enjoy these videos, and let me know what you think!
The next videos in the series focus on drums, so have a look at them if you want to learn more about this topic. At the end of any of the videos about, it shows related videos, and there you can click on EQ lesson 4 (A, B, C, etc)
Here is another good tutorial for learning more about EQ.
