Just got a new epi EL-00 from zZounds. For $300 I thought it would make a good beater. Turns out, with the solid spruce top, it's got great tone. Classic C neck - not too thick, not too thin, very comfy and playable. So not just a beater, I'm playing it constantly now. Who knew???

Hey Ken, welcome to the asylum. I've been trying to wrap my head around acoustic fingerstyle Delta-type blues; a similiar sort of technique, I think. A whole heap harder than it looks... or sounds...

You mean a kit for a loop? Actually I did find such a creature, made by a Canadian company called London Power. http://www.londonpower.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=6&products_id=24
And I sorta lied. The amp I was talking about isn't pure fantasy. London Power does make such a beast, the Studio 10. Every feature in a tube amp you could ever want, or think of, and some you probably haven't thought of. Even has 0-10 watt power scaling. And what I said about 'em wanting as much for it as a Marshall stack? At $2700C I guess I was being a bit conservative. For me, at that price, it's still a fantasy. Very interesting site though.

Just in case anybody missed this on GuitarSquid...
I'm not a jazz kinda guy at all, pretty much just straight up blues. Don't even care much for the "modern" blues 'cause of all that jazz stuff mixed in. But there's no denying Larry Carlton's talent and this little practice tip seems pretty cool no matter where your taste might lie.

Looks sweet. Never played any of them but from what I've heard all the Fender Blues family are pretty fine. And even the little Blues Jr III has a real spring reverb. Still way more than what I need. Already have a 60 watt Marshall JCM. Hard to justify something in the 40 watt range. I need something I can practice with full on that won't have the local villagers gathering at the door with torches and dangerous looking farm implements. 5 watts of raw tube power with a full tone stack, fx loop, foot switchable 2nd channel, and a tank reverb. Yup, pure fantasy.

I've had that fantasy for some time, diaper head. I was looking at the Picovalve just the other day and thinking, man, if it just had a 2nd channel, an fx loop, and a real spring reverb... Of course if it did they'd probably want as much for it as a Marshall stack.

Yup, they're all pretty fine. Still like Jimi's best though.

Well said, Robert, but from another planet? Highly unlikely. Rand Paul epitomizes the reason the aliens haven’t landed. Who’d want to hang out with someone as primitive, crude, greedy, grasping, controlling, and violent as humans? This idiot is a prime example of the attitudes that have held back the advancement of human society and stymied enlightened reasoning throughout the ages.

If, like me, you’re disgusted with the generic, pasteurized, homogenized, over-produced, ultra-commercialized dog drool that oozes from your local radio station, and you’re into blues and blues rock, check this out.

http://bellyup4blues.com/

Lots of good stuff, everything from Joe Bonamassa to Howlin’ Wolf, and everything in between. This is where I first discovered people like Beth Hart, Walter Trout, The Beat Daddys... well, you get the idea. And as a listener supported internet station, there are 0 commercials. Even has a “recently played” list so you can keep track of who you’re hearing.
