Pub Talk / Re: Red, White & Blues @ Whitehouse

I had it on my calendar but had to miss it. Had a good reason though. Through a serendipitous set of circumstances, I ran across an old friend I hadn't seen in 30 years and spent 2 hours on the phone that night with him reminiscing and catching up.

Maybe I can catch a repeat.  ;)

Is this the one with Gary Clark Jr? I had seen on his facebook that he just recently performed at the Whitehouse.

Going to check it out ...

I wouldn't be surprised if that business eventually goes out of business with such a lack of customer skills. If they are a chain, get the manager's name and complain to the home office.

I'll remember to hold my glasses next time I go in for a trim.

Thanks for the link to Zenni, reb. I need to get my eyes rechecked and get a new pair of glasses.

You always hate to hear this sort of news about someone you know.

I tried a couple of sets of coated strings. They were fine, I just don't want to pay the extra price for them ( the two sets I got were cheap on an eBay bid I won).

I've been using D'Addario Super Lights (9's) since you can get them on occasion cheap from GC or MF if you buy multiple sets. Otherwise I use Ernie Ball, same gauge. I've tried heavier strings but don't like how its harder to bend them.

I've also got a Mustang I. It does a pretty good job of speaker emulation when listening through headphones. I use a pair of Samson CH700 Studio Reference headphones. They were cheap but do a good job not only for plugging into the Mustang but for when I mix recordings.

Welcome to the forum.  ;)

Does the string buzz when played open or when fretting? If fretting, does it happen at a particular fret or frets?

Anything by Rory Gallagher is alright by me. Nicely done!

Pub Talk / Re: More job loses

Unfortunately, unemployment in the US is not going down despite the fake numbers published by the media. What is going down is employment, as in fewer jobs. By the time you factor in fewer jobs and many people no longer looking for work (which means they don't get counted as unemployed), the Government can report unemployment going down. As if 8.5% is good news ... lol.

The actual number of unemployed or under employed people is estimated to be over 25 million. Along with that, add the fact that there are almost 7 million fewer jobs now than in 2007. Oh and we need to add about 150,000 jobs a month just to keep up with population growth. The first 10 months of 2011, we added an average of 42,000 jobs.

We're not even staying even.  ???

The first video is cool!  8)

I had seen the second and saw a list somewhere of all the songs they cover. Pretty amazing how they all use the same chords.

Thanks for the post!

At 13, I would have had to run away from home and hitchhike all the way from Texas.

Didn't make it.  :o

I've only got one thing to say concerning SOPA/PIPA

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
