Pedals and Effects / Fuzz in the pedal chain

I have a fulltone 69 fuzz but I haven't been able to get a definite idea where a fuzz should go in the pedal chain.  Some people say right after the guitar and some say at the end after distortion and yet some say after the wah but before the overdrives.  Is there at least a start off position based on some scientific explanation.  I know there will be some who will say to try it everywhere which is fair enough, but it would be useful to have a start off objective premise from a sound engineering point of view rather than the usual subjective opinions.  Anyone able to shed light on this?

Dolphinstreet Lessons / Trying to learn licks according to patterns

I've been going through the lessons and I would really find it useful if I could group the various licks into each of the five pentatonic box positions or each of the five modal box positions (assuming ionic and locrian form part of the same pattern and phrygian and lydian form part of the same pattern as well).  I know I can learn the notes in the various patterns up and down the fretboard but for the purpose of each lesson it would be great to know if this is a pattern 1, 2, or 3, etc lick or not.  I just find it easier to improvise when I divide my thoughts like that and can connect the patterns quickly with linking licks as well.  Any comments or suggestions?
