They sound great Robert, but I tend to think it has a lot to do with the demonstrator....

Acoustic Guitars / Going old school high end... (To me)

My grandfather was an old chicken Pickin bluegrass flat picker and banjo player.... He told me the only real acoustic guitar worth having was a Martin...

So I'm taking his word... Looking at a Martin D18...

More to come soon...

If you know the notes for alternate tuning, it's not necessary... Like open G : DGDGBD, I use a regular clip on for that...

Electric Guitars / Re: Fender Classic Players 50's Stratocaster

That's what I thought of it. Being a mix of old and new so to speak. Lookin' back to 2012 I started to get one, but opted for an American Standard at th' time. Wish I got that one instead. Probably would still have it.....who knows? I have a 2010 Mexican Standard Strat now, but I made it my own if ya know what I mean.

Hey, didn't you had a CP 60's Strat at one time? Didn't that one have like uh.......custom '69 pickups, C neck profile , 12" radius or somethin' like that?
Anyway, I think those are fine axes.

I did have the CP 60's... Let it go because it wasn't an American Standard.  However, I sold it for a couple hundred more than I paid for it (the shop took it in as a regular MIM Strat and priced it used at $300).  I sold it for over $500 and only paid $500 for the American Standard I bought.

My only issue with the Classic 60's was the pickups.  They were such a low output, I could not get any bite out of them.  The Classic Series 50's I had once sounded much better.  But its 7.25" radius didn't agree with me.  Sold it to a friend in exchange for an amp, i think it was a handwired clone of a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb.

Just placed an order for a new Fender CP 50's Stratocaster...

It's a Custom Shop designed Stratocaster made in Mexico..

Special features include:
Fender Custom Shop Vintage 57/62 Pickups
Two Point Trem
Locking Tuners (special ones that resemble vintage tuners)
9.5" Radius, but in a soft V profile.
Five Way Switch

To me, it's the best of both worlds between a vintage design and modern amenities....

Guitar Talk In General / Guitar Solos are thing of the past...
« on: May 22, 2015, 09:00:59 AM »
Sad sad day for us...

The last mainstream music to feature guitar solos is slowing being sucked out...

Country music radio is editing songs by cutting out the solos to keep their listners tuned in and their commericals in our radios...

So sad, I'm starting love the rock tones from a lot of country music today....

Gibson is really lost right now.  They are trying all sorts of stuff to keep people buying.  But these aren't cars.  People don't go out and buy, buy, buy... We buy once in a while and keep the herd thin.  They really need to step back in production...

A friend of mine tried one, it's rather fun but keeping the chords simple works best.

Pedals and Effects / Micro Pedals Vs Their Big Brothers..

Anyone seen how crazy the market has been flooded with pedals that are a fraction of the size. Has anyone actually compared these to see if they're worth it?

I'm waiting for my Crybaby mini, I'll let you all know how it goes...

I've got mine on order.  I'm excited to get a full band feeling again.  I'll probably run it through the clean channel of my Peavey Bandit.  Just the idea of writing some riffs and getting a pseudo band to play along is fantastic.

Almost ever store I buy from has a 30 day return policy.  Most of the time, I think people get them in on a trade or a discounted rate then try to make a profit on them...

I think Godins are well built, unique guitars well worth the money.  I've played a few and really liked them.  This model I have not experienced.  Let us know what you decide.
