Hey HJ, I have had the pleasure to meet Jeff Beck years ago (1977) through a fellow drummer friend of mine (If you don't remember, I was a drummer first), his current drummer (Narada Michael Walden) is the one who introduced us. Man this dude tours a bunch! Anyway, some of what I would recommend as reqiured listening is the CDs "Wired",  "Blow by Blow" and "There and Back". Good listening. I love Jazz Fusion. When I'm not playin' blues, that's what I play.

I know of Jeff Beck, but know nothing of his songs.  What tracks should I listen to first of his?

Try the CD "Wired". I can honestly say I like ALL the tracks on that one.

I've listened to a lot of Jeff Beck lately.  His technique is really cool.  Loads of stuff all wrapped up in one.  He must go through volume pots like crazy though!

I'm always happy to seeanybody discovering Jeff beck. He is one of my true guitar heroes.  To me he is a trancendent player who is unmatched.

Zag I envy that you got to meet him and that you were friends with Narada Michael Walden.  From what I remember he also produced those Beck fusion gems.

On a side note.  Whenever my wife hears anything by hims she calls it whale music.  There I am practically in tears from listening, and then she walks in and lends me her unique perspective.  It makes me wonder if he kinda is one of those gutarists for other guitarist types.

Perhaps that's true Sven. I love listening to other guitar players anyway. Maybe I can help some and I know I can learn also. I've been very lucky to have had the opportunity to play with some big names back in the day, and learn from them.

I saw that show too. I love Jeff Beck, but was a little disappointed in that show. Beck was great as always, but the mix was terrible.
