I played a Classic Vibe and loved it.    I also love the surf Strat they make too.   A friend bought a Road Worn and sanded off the Made In Mexico.... I might do the same if I had a CV Squier...

Those surf Srats got some weight to 'em too! Well made. I sanded the back of the neck on my CV Tele 'cause it was too glossy and hard to play when you have sweaty hands. I'm not gonna waste my time sanding off where it was made. If you like it....you like it. No shame in that game. Any change I made was in the guts.

I started using GHS Fast Fret this last gig.  It worked a little too well.  On my first solo, my fingers slid off the strings.  So weird.  But the neck on my Epi Dot was never faster...

A devoted Tele player could tell the difference, and most could tell the difference if they had plugged in.

Don't get me wrong...The Squiers are a great value, Affinity aside.

I saw another video
(sorry have no link, but it's all over youtube, it's actually a sales plug for Fender),
where some other guy plays Squier (CV or VM,I'm not sure)
and American Standard,
plugged in.
It's a world of difference in Fender's favour.
I've "analysed" that video, aswell as prices, and came to an idea they may be rather same guitars with different PUs.
I asked about it on Squier forum, and there was at least one person who claimed swaping originakl Fender Tele PUs into that Squier model,
which made sound of two indistinguishable.
Now, I never saw, or heard example of that, but after seeing this video, it kinda fits the idea.

I'm not positive about the standard or vibe series, but the nut and bridge width of the Squier is narrower than mexi or American single coils.... May not sound as good as you hoped

I should add that my guitar guy likes the Squier Classic Vibe, and he is pretty much a Tele guy.

As far as pickups go, there is no doubt the pickups in the USA models will be better quality. But, ToneRiders came in my used Peavey Reactor and they are pretty dull & lifeless until I use the bright switch on my amp. Then they sound much more traditional, with that classic Tele bite.
