'93 Gibson Les Paul Standard

Have the opportunity to buy exactly this guitar

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xkaz0df7XqM&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Seller is Gregor Hilden: http://www.gregorhilden.de/guitars-and-amps-for-sale-int.html

(that guy that is doing the demo)

will most probably travel to Münster (Germany) and test it out and then buy it.

Any thoughts on this? Price is at 1800€ - in dollar around 2300.

Would you prefer this over a 2008 standard or traditional - which are in the same price range?

cheers, Johannes

btw I have to let my 50's Tribute Goldtop go for this guitar....

I feel it is overpriced, but I'm not shopping in Germany. I would be tempted to keep the gold top, which is a very nice guitar, and keep searching for a humbucker model. I think you could eventually find a Standard priced low enough that you could keep both.

the gold top is the humbucker version (had a special run not with P90)

I think the 93 is slightly overpriced, should be round 1500 to 1600 here in German, but the price listed is negotiable and the seller is known for just selling guitars in excellent conditions, really well set up, so you get a reall good instrument for your money. Of course I could find an older standard for less, lets sax 1500€ on ebay, but then you have to buy without knowing the exact condition and quality.....

Considering a LP traditional from 2008 as an alterntive... they are selling for 1400€ here...
But I would prefer an older model.... dont know why.... I read that the standards of the first half of the 1990's were really well built...

edit: yes I could keep both... money is not the issue, its my wife complaining about too many guitars ... damnit lol (-:

In the USA, that cost is about the same as a new one. Many firmly believe the older Les Paul's are better because they aren't weight relieved.  You should notice a definite difference in quality as well.  I'd love to have an older Les Paul, if you chose to buy it its a win.  If you chose to keep your 50's Tribute, you still win.

So, it took me 5 hrs, and 400km on the road and now I am back home.

Tried the 93 standard as well as some other guitars (also a rare Les Paul GT with split coils, strap locks and some kind of security plug for your cable)

And I bought.....   ..... ..... No Gibson ..... wooooot

Finally bought a Heritage H 150!

Exactly this guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-D6sB2YoK4&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Visited the guy in the video who is selling and demoing vintage guitars (and is a well kniwn blues guitar player in Germany)...

Actually wanted a Gibson, but I just bought the best playing and sounding guitar for the buck (-:

Awesome! I love Heritages! I've had four in the past couple of years. Heritage guitars have the cost of run of the mill Gibson's with the quality of the custom shop.  They have a tight night forum.  Post some pics if you get a chance...

Will post some pics on friday... BTW, the Video Shows my guitar.
It was made by the seller, so I was sitting on that chair yesterday and tested it with that Old
Fender vibrolux Amp.
