Mance Lipscomb was born near Navasota, Texas. Some musician friends of mine, back in the late '60s, used to go down and visit with Mance occasionally. Check out the Mance Lipscomb Facebook page I created awhile ago...

I have read the book, and loved every bit of it. Great insight into the lives of Texas sharecroppers. Black and white sharecroppers both had hard lives. The main difference was that white sharecroppers didn't get hanged as much for their "transgressions" against the boss man.
