New Amp Day
« on: September 24, 2013, 09:35:06 PM »
I got a new amp recently. A Samamp V.A.C 40 watt tube amp.

Here is a first clip - https://app.box.com/shared/static/8ftqgktr27zukp79cu0i.mp3

It's a stellar amp. Very touch sensitive and dynamic. It has 2 channels, one gain and one clean. However, both channels can be overdriven by turning up the volume.

It has a very smart wattage reducing solution. The wattage AND current to the tubes can be reduced. Sort of like getting tinier tubes, the lower you go. It works really well, and I used the 4 watt setting on this clip. No pedals used.

It has 2 Jensen 10 inch speakers.

It is a killer amp, and you'll likely see and hear me talk about it in the future!

Yes the amp is no longer in production, but the current 23 watt version is killer too. They have the same mojo.

Thanks man, I was using the Road Worn Strat with Porter Pickups. That one in the picture above.

Nice looker and very impressive sound.  8)

Seems to be the recipe for an amp getting discontinued!  :(

Seems quite a few models are no longer in production.

VAC 25
VAC 30
VAC 40
VAC 45
VAC 90

All is left is the 23-Verb 1 x 12. Maybe demand overload.

Here is another clip I just did, with a new overdrive pedal I'll demo next week!

Contact Sam at samamps.com for any questions. I think he is a real small operation, and he has to focus on one model at a time to make it feasible. They all sound fantastic though, no doubt.

That Variable Amplitude Clipping (VAC) is an interesting concept. Better than an attenuator in principle. Dang, why didn't I think of that?

Great tones for sure.  Got a demo with humbuckers?
